The deposited carbon film provides electrical conductivity for SEM imaging, an ultra-thin support membrane for TEM analysis, and a carbon-only coating that introduces no elemental interference in EDS/WDS X-ray analysis — making it the standard tool for electron microscopy sample preparation.
